Every phpdocx version includes new features and improvements. Previously unsupported features may have been added to newer releases, or past issues may have been corrected.
Did you try setting the downloadImages parameter as true? If downloadImages is true the images are downloaded and added instead of linked. The protected view may be blocking loading external sources.
